Notes

'Pekinensis Rubra' sacred lotus (Nelumbo nucifera 'Pekinensis Rubra') is a perennial for specimen use, rain gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and wet, loamy soil. It bears fragrant, carmine red blooms from early to late summer and again in early autumn. It can reach 84 inches tall and spreads 72 to 96 inches, so give it plenty of room.

Pairs well with Red October big bluestem, Ironweed, Hedgerows Gold red twig dogwood, and Fantasia aloalo.
