Notes
'Prins Claus' babiana (Babiana nana 'Prins Claus') is a bulb for borders, containers, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun. The orchid-like white flowers have bold magenta and pink spots on the three lower petals. It blooms from early to late summer. Give the bulbs good drainage, and leave the foliage in place after cutting back the flower stalk so it can feed the bulb.
Pairs well with Lemon thyme, Gladiolus, and Buffalo grass.
