Notes

Red button ginger (Costus woodsonii) is a perennial for naturalized plantings. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes part sun or part shade and average moisture. Its red and yellow blooms add bright color to a shaded spot. It reaches 24 to 72 inches tall and wide, so give it room.

Pairs well with Leatherleaf mahonia, Evergold sedge, and Sorrel.
