Notes

'Red Midget' Mexican hat (Ratibida columnifera 'Red Midget') is a perennial. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil. Maroon red petals with yellow edges surround long cones and float over feathery foliage. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It blooms over a long stretch from summer into fall, and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Prairie junegrass, Blue Spruce sedum, and American beach grass.
