Red Stem malabar spinach

Garden uses

Notes

'Red Stem' Malabar spinach (Basella alba 'Red Stem') is a vine for the border. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun. A pot makes it easy to move indoors when the weather turns cold.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Blue star, and Bells of Ireland.
