Notes

Redberry buckthorn (Rhamnus crocea) is a shrub for hedges, woodland gardens, and xeriscape plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is evergreen and drought tolerant, and its dark green leaves stay on the plant all year. Bees, butterflies, and birds visit it. It will not bear berries if it is under stress.

Pairs well with Big berry manzanita, Eastern mojave buckwheat, and California brittlebush.
