Notes

Redring milkweed (Asclepias variegata) is a perennial for pollinator gardens, woodland gardens, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy soil. Round clusters of small white flowers with purplish centers look like snowballs against the green leaves and draw butterflies and bees. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. The stems hold milky sap like most milkweeds.

Pairs well with New England aster, Royal fern, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
