Notes

Saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) is a succulent for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. It sits low on the menu for deer. White flowers open after nightfall and close by late afternoon the next day. Fruits and seeds feed birds and other wildlife, and birds often nest in holes in the trunk.

Pairs well with American century plant, Aloe, Prickly-pear, and Desert spoon.
