Notes

Scarlet gilia (Ipomopsis aggregata) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Bright red trumpet flowers draw hummingbirds. It grows readily from seed, and early season pinching leads to more flowering stems.

Pairs well with Shenandoah switchgrass, Star of persia, and Elfin mother of thyme.
