Notes

Silky camellia (Stewartia malacodendron) is a shrub for specimen planting, woodland gardens, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It prefers deep shade during the heat of the day, but thrives on early morning sun. The white saucer-shaped flowers have crimped petals and dark-purple stamen filaments that stand out.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Golden Tiara hosta, and Azalea.
