Notes

Silverbell tree (Halesia diptera) is a tree for specimen plantings, woodland gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White, tubular flowers hang from long stalks in spring, and each one looks like a white candle in a holder. The tree is often multi-stemmed and has striped bark when young. Squirrels eat the immature fruit.

Pairs well with River birch, Autumn fern, Sweet bay magnolia, and Sedge.
