'Spotty Dotty' may-apple (Podophyllum 'Spotty Dotty') is a perennial that grows 12 to 18 inches tall. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average moisture. The large, umbrella-shaped leaves emerge chartreuse green with chocolate-brown spots in spring. Garnet flowers hang in clusters under the leaves. By summer the leaves turn green with lighter spotting.
