Notes
Standing cypress (Ipomopsis rubra) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Red tubular flowers have orange or yellow spots inside, and hummingbirds visit the blooms. Deer tend to pass it by. You can prune off a stalk after it blooms so a new stalk can grow and flower.
Pairs well with Blue sage, Blue grama, and Gaura.
