Stromanthe (Stromanthe thalia) is a perennial for borders and perennial beds. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun to part shade and average moisture. It stays evergreen and reaches 36 to 60 inches tall. Tiny white flowers with cherry red bracts appear in early to mid spring.
Pairs well with Taro, Christmas bells, and Norfolk island pine.
