Notes

'Sugar Shack' buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis 'Sugar Shack') is a shrub for pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Fragrant flowers open from early to late summer. They draw butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Big bluestem, and Hardy hibiscus.
