Notes

'Sweet Clover' cover crop (Melilotus officinalis 'Sweet Clover') is a vegetable for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It makes a tremendous green manure and honey plant. Bees visit the yellow, white, and green flowers in early to late spring. The erect plants grow at a moderate rate and tolerate drought.

Pairs well with Carmen pepper, Bartlett pear, Black raspberry, and Salad burnet.
