Notes

Sweetflag (Acorus americanus) is a perennial for rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and moist soil. The green leaves are fragrant and stay evergreen, and yellow flowers appear in spring and again in summer. It grows slowly, so give it time to fill in. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Tussock sedge, Lizard's tail, and Interrupted fern.
