Notes

Umbrella plant (Darmera peltata) is a perennial for borders, rain gardens, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. Pink to white flowers open on tall stalks in spring, before the big round leaves unfold. The leaves turn russet in fall. Extremely basic soil can cause chlorosis.

Pairs well with Cardinal flower, Ostrich fern, and Virginia sweetspire.
