Notes

'J.C. van Tol' common holly (Ilex aquifolium 'J.C. van Tol') is a shrub for hedges, privacy screens, foundation plantings, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly into a dense, evergreen shape. The fragrant spring flowers attract bees, and birds visit too. It also tolerates salt.

Pairs well with Strawberry tree, Sasanqua camellia, and Garden phlox.
