Notes
'Verdant' leatherleaf (Chamaedaphne calyculata 'Verdant') is an evergreen shrub for naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. It grows 12 to 36 inches tall and 12 to 36 inches wide, so it suits small spaces and larger drifts alike. White flowers open in mid to late spring. The foliage stays on the plant through winter, which keeps the shrub green when other plants fade.
Pairs well with Northern bayberry, Sedge, and American aspen.
