Notes

Whitemouth dayflower (Commelina erecta) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy soil. Each medium blue flower opens for only a day, but new buds open every 3 to 4 days. The stems often lie on the ground, so you can let them sprawl or prop them up with nearby plants. It can become invasive, so give it room and watch its spread.

Pairs well with Sideoats grass, Apache plume, and Desert spoon.
