Notes

Yellow bird of paradise (Erythrostemon gilliesii) is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Yellow flowers with bright red stamens draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It grows fast, stays evergreen, and tolerates drought. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Artichoke, Southern magnolia, and Lemon Grass lemongrass.
