Notes

'All Black' New Zealand flax (Phormium tenax 'All Black') is a perennial for accents, containers, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. The evergreen leaves tolerate drought and salt. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Hummingbirds visit the plant, and it grows 59 to 71 inches tall.

Pairs well with Flame African daisy, Red-hot poker, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.
