Notes
'Purpureum' New Zealand flax (Phormium tenax 'Purpureum') is a perennial for borders, containers, accents, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It is evergreen, so it keeps its form all year. It also tolerates drought and salt. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.
Pairs well with Magnus coneflower, Mondo grass, and New England aster.
