Notes

Alum root (Heuchera richardsonii) is a perennial for meadow gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average, sandy soil. Its rounded, lobed leaves look a bit like maple leaves and sit on long stalks. Small, greenish flowers droop from tall, leafless stems, and hummingbirds visit them. Its main value is as a ground cover.

Pairs well with Pearly everlasting, Royal fern, and Kentucky bluegrass.
