Notes
American liverwort (Hepatica americana) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland gardens, rock gardens, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist soil of most types. It forms a low clump 6 to 9 inches tall and wide. Blue to lavender or white flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late autumn, and bees visit them.
Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Lungwort, Thalia daffodil, and Wintergreen.
