Notes

American mannagrass (Glyceria grandis) is a grass for meadow plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and wet soil. It spreads by thick rhizomes and stolons, so give it room. The large purplish flower clusters can reach 16 inches long and nod at the tip. It blooms in late spring and again in early to late summer.

Pairs well with Softstem bulrush, Prairie milkweed, and Seaside goldenrod.
