Notes
'Aphrodite' eastern sweetshrub (Calycanthus 'Aphrodite') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, hedges, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer tend to browse other plants first. The flowers are fragrant and attract butterflies and bees. It grows about 59 to 94 inches tall and 59 to 71 inches wide, so give it room.
Pairs well with Bobo hydrangea, Switchgrass, and Garden phlox.
