Notes

'Red Zeppelin' eastern sweetshrub (Calycanthus floridus 'Red Zeppelin') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, cottage gardens, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, loamy or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Fragrant flowers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies and bees. It has a dense habit and grows at a moderate rate.

Pairs well with Annabelle hydrangea, Christmas fern, Paris coral bells, and Solomon's seal.
