Notes
'Balsor's Hardy' California blackberry (Rubus 'Balsor's Hardy') is a shrub for the food garden, grown for fresh eating, cooking, baking, juicing, and preserves. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Large, sweet berries ripen in late summer on second-year canes. Trellising helps support the canes, and bees visit the white spring flowers. Nova Scotia breeders developed it for cold regions.
Pairs well with Sweet cherry, Miss Kim lilac, Alexander Fleming peony, and Dropmore Scarlet honeysuckle.
