Notes

Beech fern (Phegopteris connectilis) is a fern for woodland and naturalized gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes part to full shade and average to wet soil. It grows 9 to 18 inches tall and spreads 12 to 36 inches wide. Acidic soil with a pH below 6.8 suits it best. Give it room to spread into a soft carpet of fronds.

Pairs well with American maidenhair fern, White dog's-tooth violet, Sherwood Purple phlox, and Bristle-leaved sedge.
