Notes

Bird's-eye gilia (Gilia tricolor) is an annual for borders, xeriscapes, and low maintenance beds. This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It grows 12 to 24 inches tall and branches freely. Its leaves are finely divided. Light-blue or violet flowers have a yellow throat and a dark-purple ring. The plant has a musky fragrance, and butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with California poppy, Farewell to spring, and Indian blanket.
