Notes

'Black Velvet' nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus 'Black Velvet') is an annual for containers, cottage gardens, and food gardens. Frost will kill it, so set it out only after the last frost in spring. This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It climbs, grows fast, and tolerates drought, and bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer. Give the vines a little support so they can climb.

Pairs well with African marigold, Lavender, and Zinnia.
