Notes
Blue eyed mary (Collinsia verna) is an annual for borders and low maintenance gardens. This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy soil. Whorls of blue and white, two-lipped flowers rise from the leaf axils on weak stems. It blooms in spring, and bees visit the flowers. The seeds drop in summer and sprout in fall, and the seedlings last through winter. In woodlands it can form a blue carpet on the forest floor.
Pairs well with American maidenhair fern, Marsh violet, Beech fern, and Spring Beauty Siberian squill.
