Notes

Blue oak (Quercus douglasii) is a tree for low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its bluish-green leaves are shallowly lobed, and the acorns feed wildlife. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows slowly, so give it room to spread.

Pairs well with California buckeye, Buckbrush, Big berry manzanita, and Mountain mahogany.
