Notes
Bog birch (Betula pumila) is a shrub for low maintenance planting in wet spots. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. It grows well in alkaline or neutral soil and tolerates salt. The foliage is dark green, and birds visit the plant. Expect a height and spread of about 4 to 12 feet.
Pairs well with Tamarack, Black chokeberry, Dogwood, and Rush.
