Notes

Brown-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia triloba) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, loamy or clay soil. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the yellow flowers with brown-purple centers. Deer tend to pass it by. It is short-lived, so let it self-seed to keep the patch going.

Pairs well with Pale purple coneflower, Indian grass, and Hairy aster.
