Notes

Bush's purple coneflower (Echinacea paradoxa) is a perennial for borders, meadows, naturalized areas, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist soil of most types. It sits low on the menu for deer. Yellow flowers have dark coppery cones and attract butterflies, bees, and birds. Leave the cones on at the end of the season so birds can feed on the seeds.

Pairs well with Aromatic aster, Nodding onion, and Sedge.

Native range

Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.
