Notes

'Ruby Star' coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'Ruby Star') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Flowers can reach 5 inches across and sit flat instead of drooping, and they bloom from mid-summer to frost. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The dried seed heads feed finches and other birds in winter.

Pairs well with Yarrow, Bee balm, Red-hot poker, and Prairie dropseed.
