Notes

Cantaloupe (Cucumis melo) is a vegetable for food gardens, cottage gardens, and annual beds. It is typically grown as an annual. Frost will kill it, so set it out only after the last frost in spring. This plant likes full sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. The climbing vines can reach 72 to 108 inches tall. Yellow flowers open from early to late summer and attract bees.

Pairs well with Watermelon, Butternut Waltham squash, Cilantro, and Hollyhock.

Native range

India and Pakistan.
