Notes

'Captain Cook' weeping bottlebrush (Melaleuca viminalis 'Captain Cook') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, containers, and pollinator gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Yellow and red blooms draw butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds.

Pairs well with Red bird of paradise, American century plant, and Sunburst aeonium.
