Notes
Catclaw acacia (Senegalia greggii) is a shrub for low maintenance gardens, hedges, and xeriscape. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. Keep organic matter low, or the roots can rot. Fragrant creamy-white flowers draw bees and butterflies, and birds enjoy the fruit. Hooked thorns tear clothing, so plant it away from paths.
Pairs well with Desert willow, Apache plume, Desert mallow, and Purple sage.
