Notes

Celandine poppy (Chelidonium diphyllum) is a perennial for borders, ground cover, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet soil of most types. It self-seeds gently and makes a good shade ground cover, and bees visit the large yellow spring flowers. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The stems hold bright yellow sap.

Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Bloodroot, Virginian bluebells, and Eastern columbine.
