Notes
Chilean guava (Ugni molinae) is a shrub for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. The fragrant late spring flowers are pendulous pink and white bells. The ruby red fruit forms in summer and fall and tastes like strawberry with a hint of pine. This evergreen shrub is grown for its fruit and its small, shiny, dark green leaves.
Pairs well with Pomegranate, Olive, and Silver sage.
