Notes

Chitalpa (X chitalpa tashkentensis) is a tree for borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy or loamy soil. It is drought tolerant once settled in, and it adapts to acid, alkaline, or neutral soil. Flowers appear in spring, summer, and autumn, so it adds color across much of the year. It can grow about 20 to 35 feet tall and wide, so give it plenty of room.

Pairs well with Cedar elm, Fountain grass, and Korean spice viburnum.
