Notes

Common astilboides (Astilboides tabularis) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy soil. Its huge, umbrella-like leaves give a subtropical look. Creamy-white plumes arch over the foliage like a large, drooping Astilbe. Pair it with finer-leaved plants for contrast.

Pairs well with Wide Brim hosta, Japanese primrose, and Woodland phlox.
