Notes

Common deerweed (Acmispon glaber) is a subshrub for low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. Yellow pea flowers appear in spring and again in summer, and butterflies visit them. It quickly covers open slopes, which helps reduce erosion. Like other members of the Pea Family, it can enrich the soil with nitrogen.

Pairs well with Black sage, Eastern mojave buckwheat, and California aster.
