Notes
Black sage (Salvia mellifera) is an evergreen shrub for borders, hedges, and xeriscape. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun. Pale blue, whitish, or sometimes lavender flowers form compact balls in spring and summer, and butterflies visit the blooms. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The branches grow openly and can reach 6 feet tall.
Pairs well with Prickly-pear, Italian cypress, and Bindweed.
