Notes
'Compacta' common myrtle (Myrtus communis 'Compacta') is a shrub for borders, hedges, containers, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It stays mounding and fragrant, and it keeps its leaves all year. Bees visit the blooms in spring and summer.
Pairs well with Pineapple sage, Mondo grass, and Bishop of Llandaff dahlia.
