Notes

Coralbean (Erythrina herbacea) is a shrub for pollinator gardens, low maintenance beds, and xeriscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average soil of most types. Scarlet flowers appear on bare stems and draw hummingbirds. Bright red seeds stay on the split pods for months. The seeds are highly toxic, and the stems have spines, so plant it away from children.

Pairs well with Beautyberry, Trumpet honeysuckle, American holly, and Blue mistflower.
